Common Sense Leadership : Ronald Harper
Common Sense Leadership
Common Sense Leadership is full of insight and ideas. These give a different approach to leading. Leading is important. But, the qualities of a leader are only as important as those that need them.
Common Sense Leadership is encompassed by a psychological base. It isn’t rule bound nor instructive. It is meant to be elusive. It isn’t meant to identify anything that is either good, bad or indifferent.
Common Sense is Universal. Some of my writing will be. Insight and ideas are different. Their extent of use depends upon you; and how or if you would like to apply them.
Positive circling, sharing a vision, and managing energy are essential to a workplace. Running a workplace with raw energy is a challenge. Boundaries, leveraging against the downside, validating achievement, and spiking attitudes with a bonus help to control it. Understanding power and people also help. Many workers have been side tracked today.
I believe labels and talk have a lot to do with “not finding something better to do.” This doesn’t help us when it comes to working together.
Understanding your workforce and understanding how to create an environment that optimizes it makes sense. To lead with that direction makes sense as well. I am happy to share my interest in your efforts.

The Mystery of the Hidden Cabin
After Bess Silver had settled into her new home in Pineview she thought her biggest problem would be settling into a new school. She was surprised to learn that it was a one room school house which was different from what she was used to.
That all changed when Megan Skye, her best friend and cousin, dashed into their kitchen late one afternoon with exciting news. Megan’s Father discovered an old cabin, hidden behind a wall when he started doing kitchen renovations. Megan asked him to take the suitcases, ledgers and trunk they found over to Bess instead of throwing them out..
Clues turn up in the suitcases and in a secret compartment in the cabin which leave Bess puzzled. When she first looked around the cabin she sees a ghostly figure that disappears in an instant but was as real as Megan. Dreams about the cabin and occupants haunt Bess. These feel so real that Bess can’t shake the feeling that she was actually near them.
Who is the figure that Bess saw in the cabin? What is she trying to tell her? Why is she having dreams about the old cabin? Will Bess be able to figure out who the mysterious figure is? Or would these secrets remain secrets forever?
The Mystery of The Hidden Cabin is the sequel to Bess’s Magical Garden and can be read on its own.

Reflections Upon A Sunny Day : Fred H. Kornahrens III , Scott Steedley & Joseph Kornahrens
Reflections Upon A Sunny Day: An Autobiography by Murderer and Death Row Escapee Fred H. Kornahrens III
Fred H. Kornahrens III is one of South Carolina’s most famous criminals. He was condemned to death row and then, to the shock of the entire state, managed to escape. In the years that followed, people discussed Kornahrens’s story. Everyone had an opinion about the man, but few knew the truth. Now, he tells all in Reflections Upon a Sunny Day.
As a child, Kornahrens suffered from the unstable parenting of his mentally ill mother and aggressive father. When the two weren’t fighting each other, they were taking out their frustrations on a helpless child. Kornahrens’s mother was eventually hospitalized numerous times for schizophrenia but found no relief in the asylum.
Kornahrens himself began exhibiting signs of mental illness, but his upbringing hadn’t given him the tools to cope. He thought he found a purpose when he joined the military, but his career did not last long. He hoped he could make up for his parent’s faults by providing for his own family, but this proved to be the biggest mistake of all.
Finally, Kornahrens’s damaged psyche collapsed, and the resulting tragedy devastated the community. He has written his story, trying to make sense of what happened—for himself and for his readers.

Seeing the scenario as her big chance to glean better insight into her darling spouse, Andy joins him in the task–despite sentencing herself to the condemnation of her acerbic mother-in-law, Ruth.
But the assignment proves as overwhelming as it is dire when the family gathers in the house to find that their shrewd figurehead has spent the last year as a hoarder. Tensions rise and drama escalates as old grudges breathe new life, burdens exchange shoulders, and carefully buried secrets–the life-altering kind–threaten to come to light.

What Do You Say To a Happy Heathen : Richard Christenson
What Do You Say To a Happy Heathen
After becoming a follower of Christ, I became fanatical about telling everyone I knew what had taken place in my life. One woman at work graciously listened to my salvation story and then responded. “Richard, I can certainly see that you are extremely happy about what has happened to you. But what you need to understand is that I am also extremely happy with my life. I don’t want my life changed in any way. Why can’t you Christians leave us happy heathens alone?”
That sounded exactly like something I would have said to justify my lack of interest in God. Happiness, however, isn’t the primary purpose of life. Our life and labor on earth needs to please and praise the God who created us; the God who has a purpose and plan for each of us. Making Him happy is now my primary pursuit.
The Holy Spirit laid it upon my heart to write this book describing how I, who once considered myself to be a happy heathen, found my way to Jesus. On the road I’ve traveled there have been numerous diversions and I’ve taken some dead end detours. I strongly believe my name should have been recorded somewhere in Scripture to illustrate Romans 5:8: “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
I fully understand what it is like to have absolutely no interest in God, church, or people who attend church. I once felt that reading the Bible was a boring, irrelevant waste of time. I didn’t, however, want to intellectually rule out the possibility some sort of god might exist so I thought of myself as an agnostic rather than an atheist. I claimed neither faith nor disbelief in God. I just didn’t really care one way or the other.
I’ve written this book which describes my Jesus Journey from happy heathen to fully devoted follower, because God has put it on my heart to provide those willing to at least consider the claims of Christ, a concise description of what is involved in the process. This book will describe for you what my life was like before Christ came into it, and what impacted my thinking about God. I will move on to recount some of the changes and challenges that occurred immediately after I made my commitment to become a follower of Christ, and what has occurred during the years following that decision. I will attempt to candidly describe for you both the benefits and requirements associated with what I refer to as “Christ’s Discipleship Deal” in order to provide what you require to make an informed decision.
