HellBound Chronicles : Nicholas Brashear
HellBound Chronicles
Jonathon Cowley was in his mid-twenties leading a boring, normal life, which is exactly what he wanted. He had a wife, no kids, and was informed he was going to be promoted. Everything seemed to be on the up and up for Jon, until he went home to find his wife in bed with another man.
Frantically, he reacted to the devastation by snatching his gun and sadly killing himself. This is not where his story ends; however, it’s actually where is begins. Jon finds himself waking up in Hell, which to his surprise, is nothing like he was taught in Sunday School. He arrives in what appears to be a big cave where he runs into his father who has been a resident for many years.
His father briefly takes him under his wing and shows Jon the ropes. Eventually, Jon learns that there may be a way that he can in fact return to Earth. He is convinced that he needs to return to his wife, whom he was forgiven and wants nothing more than to be with again. Jon encounters many nefarious people, and treacherous obstacles on his path. Will he be able to make it out?

Tales From A Nobody : G.C. Cook
Tales From A Nobody
What happens when the phone rings in the dead of night and brings every memory flooding back from your awkward youth? That’s the conundrum our very average narrator faces – just like you might someday.
Twenty years ago, before his wife and child, our narrator was nobody – a lot like all of us. He dreamed of love and glory and getting to second base. Now, as he wonders who is on the other line of that late-night call, he recalls the loves lost and the glories just out of reach. With the help of his rat pack of dim-witted friends, he experiences all that middle and high school has to offer (or maybe slightly less).
Author G.C. Cook leans on his experience as a stand-up comedian to craft a funny and poignant chronicle of coming of age experiences, including love, divorced parents, addiction and the creation of the definitive rule book for “Seven Minutes in Heaven.” With a style reminiscent of Dave Barry, David Sedaris and Bill Bryson, G.C. Cook takes you on a ride through adolescence that will take you right back to the roller coaster of emotions of your youth – the good, the bad and definitely the juvenile.
Texas Banker/Oklahoma Hunter : Ken Mixon
Texas Banker/Oklahoma Hunter (A Mostly True Story)
Who do you think of when you think of a banker? Perhaps you think of the bankers trying to foreclose on Kevin Costner’s farm in “Field of Dreams?” Bankers are usually portrayed as jerks who are trying to foreclose on widows and orphans. I have been a banker for nearly forty years and I want to show you some different sides to one banker – me.
I come from a family of story tellers, from my father’s mother’s family, the Gillhams. When a Gillham told a story at the campfire, you could feel the heat of the sun beating down and hear the calling of an owl just as if you were there.
The stories in this book are half from banking and half from my hunting, my dogs, and my childhood. Some of the stories are humorous, some are serious, and some are a little of both. As you read, you will hopefully share my puzzlement as I listen to a loan request, feel the pounding of a buck’s hooves on the dirt as it gallops toward me, and hear my father’s whistle. If you do, I have accomplished my goal in writing this book.

Eadric And The Wolves : David K. Mullaly
Eadric And The Wolves: A Novel Of The Danish Conquest Of England
England in the year 1000, at the turn of the millennium, was a society divided. The majority of its residents were people of one culture, but a sizeable minority tended to see the world in a very different way. Hate crimes were common, and some religious figures talked about the end of the world.
Finally, there were groups of foreigners who intended to wreak havoc on the general population, and some residents were blamed for the violence of those outsiders.
The terrorists were Vikings, and the attacks had been ongoing for two hundred years. The long-established residents were Anglo-Saxon, but many thousands of people with Scandinavian roots had established lives there, some families having had homes in England for over a century.
A young man named Eadric, coming from an insignificant family in the woodlands of Mercia, became a powerful political figure in English society. King Aethelred II named him ealdorman or earl, and he married the king’s daughter. However, he was haunted throughout his life by the infamous St. Brice’s Day massacre in 1002 A.D. Among the slaughtered Danes were people very close to him.
His loyalty to their memories will force him to choose between his eminent status and his loyalty to his own Anglo-Saxon people, and his desire for justice–and revenge. His revulsion at the genocidal impulses of the most powerful people in the land will play an important role in many of his decisions.
This story provides a plausible explanation for an infamous betrayal.
Growing Up Viking : Ieda Jonasdottir Herman
Viking Children Don’t Cry. Grandpa always said Viking children never cried; they howled, screamed, bellowed – but did not cry! In Iceland 1935, the Viking philosophy was deeply rooted in the culture. Life was tough and the work was hard but along with the responsibility, there was freedom too. Childhood memories of growing up in the freedom and hardship of 1930’s Iceland recalled by a WWII war bride after 65 years in the United States. Looking back after a life in America, raising ten children and being surrounded by grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the author recalls a simpler time and draws the reader into a childhood routine that had been virtually unchanged since the days of the Vikings.
Ieda Jónasdóttir Herman’s story takes the reader on an adventure as she embarks on an amazing journey through childhood. The matter-of-fact acceptance of the existence of trolls, hidden folk and the elusive monster worm (Serpent of Lagarfljot) are all part of daily life. Iceland is a world all of its own; eerie landscapes, erupting volcanoes, gushing geysers, and swirling fog. It’s not hard to believe the folklore of hidden folks, and trolls, romping alongside of humans. These enchanting legends are interwoven with the hopes and fears of a child growing up amidst the hardships of day-to-day life in this mysterious land.
